enjoying the show

A few weeks ago we had an afternoon thunderstorm slowwwllly roll in over the mountains. The sky was growing darker, the rumbling getting closer, and before the storm was overhead we sat out in the grass to watch nature's fireworks. We oooohed and aaahhhhhed as we watched the electricity streak across the sky. As the winds picked up and the rain began to sprinkle we headed inside to take cover

We grabbed our backpacks and jackets on friday and headed over the mountain and across the plains to visit sister in Star Valley, Wyoming. We usually visit a couple times a year--but this was my first trip there in the fall and I just fell in love. If I thought I could survive the winters......we just might have stayed.

Missing: nephew. niece.

Reading: What should I read right now? I want something gripping and hard to put down. I just finished Helen Keller's The Story of My Life, and while fascinating.......not really all that thrilling, 
you know?

Watching/Still thinking and dreaming about: The Hunger Games. Did you see it? SOOOOOOOO well done. I'm usually not the biggest lover of

somewhere in wyoming.....

....and even a few miles of utah.
the road crosses back and forth across the state line approximately 37 times.

I took a quick little trip over the mountains this weekend to see my sissy
 and her (very) new (extremely) teeny little girl.

I love driving.
loooooooove.
long open roads.
tiny towns where everyone waves as you pass through.
(literally, everyone waves at you)
stopping for cows.

...walk down the street pulling your kids in a sled. Right down the main street of town! The locals will wave, and you will all wave back.

I get so confused. Like my brain has been shook up and twisted around--the part that tells me which direction to go is no longer functioning.




It happens every time I go home, and just this last week when I ran away to sister's.




Until I was 11, I grew up in a neighborhood. In a little town, with little houses side by side, kids up and down the street to ride

HOME!

We made it back! Now only a few more hours until Robby is home too, (away for a work trip....boo), and we'll be back to normal(ish).




We have lots of catching up to do before then:

-laundry

-laundry

-unpacking

-shaving of legs (hey, I needed the extra warmth)

-naps (for everyone)

-we have no food, and we are hungry

-running off all of sister's amazing chocolate chip cookies
