DIY Candy Corn Halloween Paper Napkin Wreath

Hola Amigos! Just a quick craft for the weekend if you want to give your house a festive touch for Halloween! You guys already know the drill with this wreath since we have made quite a few already (here and also here), but that is the thing, it's so easy, cheap and you get instant gratification is hard to just stop at just one!

If you have a small apartment, a dorm, or a big house but you are really not into the whole Halloween thing but a touch of magic in your home, this is the craft for you! Other than the napkins from your Dollar Store, you just need a few Halloween elements and you are set!

Nothing says Fall and Halloween like Candy Corns! These little bites of sugar now come in all flavors and textures, even gummies, so why not a wreath, it doesn't have to be perfect,the real ones aren't, and we are just representing them on this wreath with their characteristic colors.

As always this is a quick accent for indoors or outdoors, just keep in mind is paper and lately it has been raining and we are expecting the "S" word (snow) soon, so if you don't have a covered porch or the wind brings water to your door, use it inside only.

Happy weekend my friends! Only 11 days left for candy palooza! I still need to get or make a costume for my little one but...and by the looks of it, I'll be putting it together on the 30th since my little monster can't decide what he wants to be! In the meantime I will make more wreaths and dream about candy.

DIY Halloween Ghost in the Mirror

Hola Amigos! Sharing with you a quick craft I made last year in the also known as the Before Blogging Days!, not as many pictures but this craft is so easy that not as many are needed anyway!

What I Used: You only need 3 things to make this craft. Head to your Dollar Store and get yourself a framed mirror, a printed image from your computer, preferably black and white and some Oven Cleaner.
How I did it: Take your mirror apart, set the frame aside. On a kitchen towel or old rag, place your mirror upside down (reflective side down) leaving the dark side exposed. Spray some oven cleaner over it and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I tried several times and with the particular oven cleaner I used it took me 15-20 minutes for it to work. Using a soft towel or old rag (a disposable one because you won't be using this one again) wipe some areas of your mirror, not everything, leave some areas with the dark backing so when you turn it around you could still see your own reflection, like a mirror. Make sure it's dry and with no residue of cleaner before you continue with your craft.
Cut the printed image to fit your frame and put it right behind the mirror already  on the frame. When you turn it around you will be able to see the printed image coming from behind the still reflecting mirror. Cover it up with the back (stand) of the mirror and you are done! Enjoy the spookiness.

Show as much or little of the image as you want. I happened to like just the edges so I can appreciate Miss Borden's face better. I'm really fond of her. maybe because we share the same name (Lizbeth)  and actually I think she was innocent of what they accused her.

Too bad they didn't have an "Agent Gibbs" or the people at the  CSI  L.A. unit to investigate and clear her name. She has a place of honor on my living...lighting is very bad there..I can't get a decent picture, so I apologize.

I guess we are ready now to start singing that creepy nursery rhyme....Lizzie Borden had an Axe.....I'm not going to sing the whole thing because I don't want to scare you guys too bad, lol. Hope you like my little project and you try it this Halloween....can't get any easier than this for $1 or so! Have a healthy and productive First Week of Fall!

DIY Halloween Ribbon Pumpkin

Hola Amigos! A pretty craft here to give your Halloween pumpkins a different look with more texture and character than just plain orange or white gourd you find at your craft store.
It's really put together in no time once you get the hold of it. I was watching a night show when I made mine, One thing though, Tulula, my ribb-pumpkin was made in the "before blogging" times, so the pictures I took were for personal reference and not for posting, so my apologies for the quality.

This is what I used: Halloween themed ribbons, depending on the size of your pumpkin you might need 4-5 rolls of ribbon. I used about 4 plus a few more I had around, I wanted Tulula to be colorful, 1 fake pumpkin from your craft store and glue gun sticks, lots of them.
This is how I did it: First, cut your ribbon in 1.5 2 inches in length. Glue the end edges very carefully because with your sheer ribbon the hot glue goes right through it. Make a loop.
Starting on the very top of your pumpkin, hot glue the ends of your loop around the stem, interchanging different colors of ribbon, textures and even widths to give your pumpkin more visual interest. Keep doing this until your entire pumpkin is covered in ribbon.
Finally decorate your pumpkin stem is you choose too with a little bling from the floral section of your craft store very popular this time of the year.

Isn't she cute! I will make her more sisters and display them all together, perhaps since she is so colorful the others could be in plain matching colors! Possibilities are endless!

Luminaria=Peppermint Luminaria

This quick project was born out of necessity. My little one has been having problems with sleeping in his room with the lights off. At the moment, he has Pancho, he has his Circus Christmas Tree and a little fish lamp, but still I've been waking up at least once a night for a few nights now. So, to make a long story short, I had pinned this adorable decoration from the Dollar Store Crafts site and I was planning on working on it f next year...but due to the circumstances I thought It's Now or Never!

The materials needed for this projects are as follows:

1 Piece of styrofoam material, I used a piece of the many I've gotten inside Xmas presents shipped this season.
2 Popsicle sticks painted black
1 Solar Light Peppermint stick mine from the Dollar Tree, but I understand they are sold everywhere
Some fake snow or white fabric
A couple of inches of chain, I used a broken piece of necklace
A piece of  small piece of white card board to make the Sign...I didn't have any handy so I used a 2010 small picture frame I had and was about to toss.

I covered the piece of styrofoam with regular white glue and sprinkled some of the fake snow on it. While it was drying. I started working on the sign I made an L shaped Angle with the 2 popsicle sticks and used my glue gun to stick one side of it to the solar light. Attached my chain to the picture frame and then the top of the chain to the upper popsicle stick. Since my penmanship is really horrible, I used some small letters to write North Pole and stuck them the the face of the picture frame.

Stand your Solar light in the styrofoam and it's done! I embellished mine a little bit by adding some extra decorations I had from a box of vintage ornaments that my MIL had recently given me and  a few Dollar Tree presents.

It works too!!!! It is very hard to take a picture of it without my flash going (perhaps it's time to buy a new camera, hint hint Santa) but for now this one's got to do.

It's not super bright...after all it's a dollar solar panel light, but it looks cute and gives a little extra light to the one who needs it now...my little one!

Hello World and Happy Halloween!!! I wanted to make my first post a memorable one and start my journey into Blog land on a very significant day to me...Halloween!!!

See, where I'm from right around this day we observe "El Dia de Los Muertos". It is not a joyful day like in this part of the world, is very solemn, no parties, no candy, no costumes...just a day to remember those who were once very important to us but now are gone yet still,  live in our hearts.

So when I got to a place when on the same date all these fun things were happening around me, I just went crazy! Like a kid in a candy store I wanted it all!!! The witches, the vampires, the pumpkins the candy. I was in paradise. And I've been hooked ever since. Granted my budget limits my imagination, I try to make the most of my resources and decorate my home with the things I enjoy the most!

Everything goes when it comes to my decor, witches, bats, skulls...as long as it flows it works for me! and every year I try to deliver something different...even if it's just moving one thing form the usual place!

So folks, that is the story of  how I became fascinated with Halloween and how much I love all the magic  of the month of October ! Oh Yes...my house is ready for all goblins, witches and warlocks since the first day of the month...so we can enjoy it for 31 wonderful days! I hope you all have a great Halloween Night and stick with me on this new broom ride wherever it will take me! Good Night and Happy Hauntings.
