a sunday stroll.....

we spent the weekend cooped up inside with colds.....listening to the thunderstorms while we slept, and spending our awake time thinking about more sleeping (or maybe that was just me).so what we needed come sunday evening was some fresh air from the great outdoors.their little legs ran and ran and ran and ran,scooped up flowers and sticks and rocks,dirtied their hands and faces.........and then

a little walk...

today.

today we took off our shoes.the earth squished between our toes.it was smudged on our faces, and is still refusing to come out from underneath our fingernails.today we dug.deep.and not so deep.we watered.tiny plants.seeds.and each other.today didn't stop until the last piece of sun fell out of the sky.we smelled of compost. and chicken poo.I wish more days were like today.

we love the smell of dirt. and all the new grass that is coming in.the kids were so happy to find worms....worms! it's spring!we planted.freesiaand ranunculus(or octopus seeds, as they called them:)the end.

...welcomed march.we planted. chives. in tiny little pots. and set them in the window.we saw spring. green.growth.everywhere. we dug. raked.shoveled.cleaned out the old,to make room for the new.we got dirty.and we liked it.
