Meat, Meat and More Meat

Grilled and barbequed meats.  What can I say.  I thought that Aussies were renowned for being the best "barbequers" in the world.  After my taste of barbequed Montenegrin meats on a beautiful sunny day in the mountains, I'm torn.  Actually I'm not.  The Montenegrins get the blue ribbon hands down.  It was divine. Smokey, unburnt, cooked through and melt in your mouth.  Simply sensational.

Mitch said to me he refuses to view any of the pictures of the barbequed meats that he ate whilst there. He said he didn't want to be reminded of them because it would be too hard to bear.  He claims it was the best cooked meat he has ever eaten.

My Plate
My only qualm with their cuisine is that meat is their number one food.  Tonnes of it.  Everywhere we ate, there was always four or five different cuts of meat.  Their speciality was in the grilled and barbequed cuts. They do it remarkably well.  I looked up the Lonely Planet to see where Vegetarians might dine in Montenegro.  You don't want to know the answer.  If you're a Vegetarian, my advice to you is - dream about Montenegro, enjoy the pamphlets and the documentaries.  There's no doubt the scenery is a visual feast. But that's about the only feast a Vegetarian will get in Montenegro.  You'll starve.
